The Facebook notes module has recently been updated which now allows you to create a real blog on your Facebook fan page complete with photos and title. Basically Facebook is pushing us to abandon our good old WordPress blog and entirely move our business model to its platform.

The advantages are certainly not to bear more than an annual wordpress hosting cost and certainly our content will be well positioned.
But is it really worth basing our content marketing strategy on a social network such as Facebook or Linkedin where this option has been available for a while?
First of all, let’s give some information on the meaning of article or content marketing.
what is Content marketing?
Content marketing is a strategic marketing approach that involves creating and sharing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience, with the ultimate goal of driving profitable customer action.
Advantages of content marketing for websites include:
Increased traffic: Content marketing can help drive more traffic to your website through search engine optimization (SEO), social media sharing, and other distribution channels.
Improved brand awareness: By consistently creating and sharing valuable content, you can increase your brand’s visibility and establish yourself as an authority in your industry.
Increased engagement: Content marketing can help increase engagement with your audience, as people are more likely to engage with content that is informative, entertaining, or educational.
Enhanced lead generation: By creating content that addresses your audience’s pain points and interests, you can attract more leads and ultimately convert them into customers.
Cost-effective: Compared to other forms of marketing, such as advertising, content marketing can be a cost-effective way to reach and engage with your target audience.
Opportunities for websites through content marketing include:
Blogging: Creating a blog can help you consistently create and share content that provides value to your audience and can attract more traffic to your website.
Video marketing: Creating videos that provide information, entertainment, or education can help increase engagement and attract new visitors to your website.
Social media marketing: Sharing your content on social media platforms can help you reach a wider audience and drive more traffic to your website.
Email marketing: Creating email newsletters and campaigns that share your latest content can help you stay top-of-mind with your audience and drive more traffic to your website.
SEO: By creating high-quality, relevant content, you can improve your website’s search engine rankings and attract more organic traffic to your website.
why avoid social networks for content marketing?
One of the reasons why I advise against basing your entire marketing strategy on a social network is the fact that in this way you don’t have the absolute certainty that those contents will be yours forever.
Unless we forget to renew a website, it will always be accessible and even if attacked by hackers it will always be recoverable through your own or hosting’s backup strategy.
A social network, on the other hand, is linked to the user who manages the page who, for very strange reasons, often due to false reports, is first limited in the comments, a sort of admonition and then banned with the loss of page administration and all our Work.
This can also happen due to account theft. In fact, not all users are aware of or know how to set up two-factor authentication, which asks for confirmation of access via app or text message, guaranteeing a second level of security.
Writing articles on Facebook notes can certainly be useful given the indexing for link building and redirecting the customer journey towards your content where you can decide how and what to convert.
I’ll tell you about this and other similar interesting topics in my next book The Blue Check due out in the spring.
In the meantime I advise you to leave pages like Wikipedia or social network modules for content marketing or try to get the knowledge panel because it could turn out to be a hole in the water.
